The Complete Allergy Screen is the UK's most comprehensive home allergy blood test, analysing your immune response to 295 different allergens from a simple finger-prick blood sample. Using advanced ALEX² microarray technology, this single test provides a complete picture of your allergy profile — covering foods, pollens, animals, dust mites, moulds, insect venoms, and more.
Unlike basic allergy panels that test only a handful of allergens, this test identifies specific IgE antibodies to each individual allergen, helping you and your healthcare provider pinpoint exactly what's triggering your symptoms. Whether you're experiencing unexplained sneezing, skin reactions, digestive issues, or suspected food allergies, this test delivers laboratory-grade results without leaving your home.
Key Features
- 295 Allergens Tested — the most comprehensive allergy panel available for home use
- Simple Finger-Prick Collection — no clinic visit required, collect your sample at home
- Total IgE + Specific IgE — measures both overall allergic tendency and individual allergen responses
- Component-Resolved Diagnostics — identifies cross-reactive allergens to help predict severity
- Results in 3–4 Working Days — fast turnaround from our UKAS-accredited UK laboratory
- Detailed PDF Report — clear breakdown of all 295 allergens with severity classifications
What's Tested
This comprehensive panel tests for IgE antibodies to 295 allergens across 10 major categories, including both whole allergen extracts and molecular components for enhanced accuracy.
You will receive a comprehensive PDF report via email showing your IgE response to all 295 allergens, with clear classification of positive and negative results.
Important: You must provide your date of birth when ordering this test. This is required for laboratory processing and accurate result interpretation.

Your results will show the specific IgE level for each of the 295 allergens tested, measured in kUA/L (kilo units of allergen-specific antibody per litre). Results are typically classified as:
IgE Classification Levels
- Class 0 (<0.35 kUA/L) — Negative / No sensitisation detected
- Class 1 (0.35–0.69 kUA/L) — Low level sensitisation
- Class 2 (0.70–3.49 kUA/L) — Moderate sensitisation
- Class 3 (3.50–17.49 kUA/L) — High sensitisation
- Class 4 (17.50–49.99 kUA/L) — Very high sensitisation
- Class 5 (50.00–99.99 kUA/L) — Very high sensitisation
- Class 6 (≥100 kUA/L) — Extremely high sensitisation
Total IgE
Your report also includes a Total IgE measurement, which indicates your overall allergic tendency. Elevated total IgE may suggest an allergic condition, although some people with allergies have normal total IgE levels.
Cross-Reactivity
The ALEX² test identifies cross-reactive allergens — substances that contain similar proteins and may cause reactions in people sensitised to related allergens. For example, someone allergic to birch pollen may also react to apples, cherries, or hazelnuts due to cross-reactive proteins. Understanding cross-reactivity helps predict which foods or substances may cause symptoms.
Important Notes
Sensitisation vs Clinical Allergy: A positive IgE result indicates sensitisation (your immune system produces antibodies to that allergen) but does not automatically confirm clinical allergy. Some people have positive results without experiencing symptoms. Your healthcare provider can help interpret results in the context of your symptoms and medical history.
Before Your Test
- No fasting required — you can eat and drink normally before collecting your sample
- Antihistamines: You can continue taking antihistamines — they do not affect IgE blood test results
- Oral steroids: Long-term oral steroids may lower IgE levels. Discuss with your doctor if you're on steroid medication
- Timing: There is no specific time of day required for sample collection
Sample Collection Tips
- Warm your hands under warm water for 2–3 minutes before collection to improve blood flow
- Stay hydrated — drink water before collecting your sample
- Use the side of your fingertip rather than the pad for less discomfort
- Allow blood to drip naturally — avoid squeezing the finger too hard as this can affect sample quality
- Collect your sample in the morning if possible and post the same day
After Collection
- Seal the collection tube securely
- Place in the prepaid return packaging provided
- Post your sample as soon as possible (ideally same day)
- Avoid posting on Fridays or before bank holidays to ensure timely laboratory processing
Who Is This Test For?

- People who suspect food allergies but aren't sure which foods are triggers
- Those with hay fever who want to identify specific pollen triggers
- Parents wanting to screen children for multiple allergies
- People with eczema or asthma potentially linked to allergen exposure

When to Seek Urgent Care Instead
- Anaphylaxis symptoms: If you experience difficulty breathing, throat swelling, rapid heartbeat, dizziness, or collapse after allergen exposure — call 999 immediately
- Severe reactions: If you have a history of severe allergic reactions, discuss testing options with your GP or allergy specialist first
- Current symptoms: This test is not for diagnosing acute allergic reactions — seek immediate medical attention if you're having symptoms now
Medical Disclaimer
This test measures IgE antibodies to 295 allergens using ALEX² microarray technology. Results indicate sensitisation to specific allergens but should be interpreted alongside your clinical symptoms and medical history.
A positive result does not automatically mean you will experience symptoms when exposed to that allergen. Similarly, a negative result does not completely rule out allergy, particularly if there has been no recent exposure to the suspected trigger.
This test is suitable for initial screening and monitoring but is not a substitute for clinical allergy assessment. For suspected severe allergies, history of anaphylaxis, or before making significant dietary changes, we recommend consulting an allergy specialist.
This test does not replace professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you have symptoms or concerns about allergies, please consult your GP or an allergy specialist.
Venous Blood Sample: Requires a venous blood sample taken by a phlebotomist. Phlebotomy charges may apply.
