Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea Home Test Kit
Description
Test for chlamydia and gonorrhoea quickly and discreetly from the comfort of your home. These are the two most common bacterial sexually transmitted infections in the UK, and both can be present without any symptoms—meaning you could have an infection without knowing it.
We offer different self-swab and urine test options depending on the type of sexual activity you've had. Choosing the right test is important because these infections can occur in different parts of the body, and testing only one site may miss an infection elsewhere.
All samples are self-collected at home—no clinic visit needed. Your kit includes everything you need with clear, easy-to-follow instructions. Results are typically available within 2–3 working days.
Why Test for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea?
- Often no symptoms – Many people don't know they're infected
- Easy to treat – Both infections are curable with antibiotics
- Prevent complications – Untreated infections can cause serious health problems
- Protect your partners – Know your status to prevent passing it on
- Discreet home testing – No clinic visit required
- Fast results – Typically within 2–3 working days
Which Test Should You Choose?
The right test depends on the type of sexual activity you've had. Read the options below to find the test that's right for you. If you've had multiple types of sexual contact, you may need more than one test.
- Sample type: First-pass urine (the first part of your urine stream)
- How to collect: Urinate into the collection pot provided
- Important: Don't urinate for at least 1–2 hours before collecting your sample
- Best for detecting: Urethral infections in men
- Sample type: Self-collected vaginal swab
- How to collect: Insert the swab into your vagina and rotate gently
- Important: Follow the instructions carefully for best results
- Best for detecting: Vaginal and cervical infections
- Sample type: Self-collected throat swab
- How to collect: Swab the back of your throat and tonsil area
- Important: Don't eat, drink, or brush your teeth for 30 minutes before collecting
- Best for detecting: Pharyngeal (throat) infections from oral sex
- Sample type: Self-collected rectal swab
- How to collect: Insert the swab about 2–3cm into the rectum and rotate gently
- Important: Use a separate swab from any other test sites
- Best for detecting: Rectal infections from receptive anal sex
Do I Need More Than One Test?
If you've had different types of sexual contact, you may need to test multiple sites. For example:
- Vaginal and oral sex: Consider both a vaginal swab and a throat swab
- Anal and oral sex: Consider both a rectal swab and a throat swab
- All types of contact: Consider testing all relevant sites for complete peace of mind
Testing only one site may miss an infection elsewhere. If you're unsure which tests you need, consider testing all sites relevant to your sexual activity.
Results are available within 2–3 working days from the sample arriving at the laboratory.
How It Works
We'll send you a collection kit with all the materials you need, clear instructions, and a prepaid return envelope. Collect your sample in private at home, then post it back to us using the envelope provided.
Your kit includes: Collection swab(s) or urine pot, step-by-step instructions, sample tube, consent form, and prepaid return envelope.
Important: Many people with chlamydia or gonorrhoea have no symptoms at all. That's why testing is so important, especially if you've had unprotected sex or a new partner.

Left untreated, chlamydia and gonorrhoea can cause serious health complications:
In Women
- Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) – infection of the uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries
- Fertility problems – including difficulty getting pregnant or ectopic pregnancy
- Chronic pelvic pain
In Men
- Epididymitis – painful inflammation of the tubes that carry sperm
- Fertility problems – though less common than in women
In Both
- Increased risk of HIV – having an STI can make you more susceptible to HIV
- Reactive arthritis – joint pain and inflammation
- Passing the infection to partners
The good news: Both infections are easily treated with antibiotics when detected early.
Medical Disclaimer
This test is intended for screening purposes only and does not constitute a medical diagnosis. A negative result indicates that no infection was detected at the time of testing; it does not guarantee the absence of infection, particularly if exposure occurred within the previous 14 days.
A positive result requires treatment with appropriate antibiotics prescribed by a qualified healthcare professional. You should inform recent sexual partners so they can also be tested. Avoid sexual contact until you have completed treatment and received confirmation that the infection has cleared.
This test does not replace professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you have symptoms or concerns about your sexual health, please consult your GP or visit a sexual health clinic.
