Throat Swab

- Important: Don't eat, drink, or brush your teeth for 30 minutes before collecting

Rectal Swab

A self-collected rectal swab that tests for chlamydia and gonorrhoea infection in the rectum. Rectal infections are common and often have no symptoms.

- How to collect: Insert the swab about 2–3cm into the rectum and rotate gently
- Important: Use a separate swab from any other test sites

Do I Need More Than One Test?
If you've had different types of sexual contact, you may need to test multiple sites. For example:
- Vaginal and oral sex: Consider both a vaginal swab and a throat swab
- Anal and oral sex: Consider both a rectal swab and a throat swab
- All types of contact: Consider testing all relevant sites for complete peace of mind

How It Works
We'll send you a collection kit with all the materials you need, clear instructions, and a prepaid return envelope. Collect your sample in private at home, then post it back to us using the envelope provided.

Left untreated, chlamydia and gonorrhoea can cause serious health complications:
In Women
- Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) – infection of the uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries
- Fertility problems – including difficulty getting pregnant or ectopic pregnancy
- Chronic pelvic pain
In Men
- Epididymitis – painful inflammation of the tubes that carry sperm
- Fertility problems – though less common than in women
In Both
- Increased risk of HIV – having an STI can make you more susceptible to HIV
